A Message from the
Village President, Richard R. Heidel
I extend a warm welcome and invitation to all Hobart residents to give me a call at anytime with your ideas and interest in becoming more active in your local government.
As a resident of Hobart for 20 years, I can assure newcomers to the community of what Hobart holds dear: we are a family community and a wondrous place to raise children. We are blessed with two excellent school districts, Pulaski Community School District in the northern area of Hobart and West De Pere School District in the southern area of our Village.
Hobart enjoys a handsome topography, beautiful climate, and convenience to all urban resources in our location near the “Northern Coast” of the Great Lakes. Yet we take great pride and make ongoing thoughtful efforts to preserve the quiet rural and residential ambiance that permeates all of our Village.
Having just celebrated our 100th year in 2008, we owe much respect and appreciation to the diligent efforts of our early settlers and founding families who have forged the area of large farms through a modest evolution toward prosperous family farms adjacent to magnificent residential communities.
Our evolution over the coming years will include an innovative new addition for the benefit of all residents, the Centennial Centre at Hobart. This mixed use area on our northern boundary will be as we say, “A window to the past; a door to our future.” Centennial Centre envisions an “old world” architectural theme merged with a contemporary Village Square, new single family homes at affordable price points, quality multi-family apartments, new retail, restaurants, office and professional spaces, and excellent outdoor amenities in the form of new green spaces and abundant pathways and bike trails.
Hobart's Village Staff has completed all preliminary planning tasks and marketing analyses, and construction has been accomplished to bring needed sewer and water to the 400+ buildable areage. Construction will be starting soon on new residential and commercial enterprises. Centennial Centre is moving forward to ensure the economic viability of Hobart’s next 100 years while keeping Hobart taxes competitively lower than surrounding communities.
We have enjoyed a vibrant past and look forward to a durable, quality future with new amenities and services available to all of our Hobart residents. I look forward to meeting you one day soon, and remember, I welcome your calls at any time!
